Ballroom Competition

Hey ladies!

So Doug and I are competing in the University of Michigan Ballroom Dance Competition in Ann Arbor on Feb. 11th (next Saturday) and we wanted to invite anyone who would like to come! It is free for kids and those who have a student ID and $10 if you don't. We'll be competing around 6pm and at 7pm Victor Fung and Anastasia Muravyeva will be performing, they are one of the top ten ballroom standard couples in the world!! I'm not sure how many different dances they'll perform, but they are known for their Tango, Waltz, Quickstep, Foxtrot, and Viennese Waltz.

Disney Music Time this Thursday!

Help with Gray tomorrow morning???

Hello lovely ladies!

This is an announcement with great news and also a cry for help. We learned today that Nate was offered the job with the Attorney General's office! YAY!!

We also learned that he needs to go into their office tomorrow to fill out some paper work, attend a training, and meet with the division chief. The only problem is that I have my first prenatal doctors appointment at 9:45am and they told me it would be at least an hour. This is right during Grayson's nap and it would be absolutely disastrous to try to take him along.

Would anyone be willing to watch Grayson for me tomorrow morning from about 9:30 to 11am? Ideal would be for someone to come here and I can put him down for his morning nap in his crib. But I have a pack-n-play that I can take to someone's home as well and put him down. You should know that he has a little cold (just a clear, runny nose right now) and he usually only sleeps from 30-45 minutes when he's in a new place. You should also know that he has a serious case of separation anxiety, and would have to be prepared for quite a bit of crying without mom or dad around... full disclosure here!

I would so appreciate any help. Please let me know.

Hello all- Does anyone have a Kitchenaid mixer that I can borrow a whisk from? I need to know if Kitchenaid parts work on a different brand of mixer. I can't find replacement parts for the off brand but they sell Kitchenaid stuff everywhere. I just need to pop it in, turn it on and give it right back. Duplex for rent!

Hi guys,My neighbors that I share a duplex with, are recents grads from MSU and started a job at MSU a couple of months ago. Since they got a job here they have been looking for homes to buy. Anytime they should find a house or closing on one. They are just waiting for the right one. Anyway, that means you can live in a great duplex along with the rest of the Birch Row Mormon compound. It is a 3 BDRM, 1 1/2 bath, unfinished bsmt (nice enough that you could lay a big rug down to make a playroom), and an attached garage. Oh, and let me not forget a beautiful private backyard (no fence but my kids will still stay in backyard), and WONDERFUL welcoming neighbors! I believe the rent they pay is $925. Also, we are moving next summer (end June or Begin July) so ours will be available as well. The difference with ours is we have a finished bsmt (70's style) but can't really complain because it doesn't flood! Our rent is $975 a month. If you are interested in either mine or our neighbors or know someone who may be, let me know. I know the Fredline's and Evan's would love some great neighbors!

More About Playgroup Christmas Party

I'd like to have a small white elephant exchange at the Christmas party on Thursday. If you are planning on coming, could you bring a wrapped gift for each of your children? (This is just for the kids- the adults don't need one for themselves.) Ideally, it could be just an old toy that you're kids don't play with anymore. If you do feel the need to go and buy something, please don't spend more than $1.00 per child. Small dollar store toys and candy are always a hit with the kiddos. Keep it simple. Thanks!

P.S. Can you all pass the word along? I will bring extras for those that don't get the memo.

Hello Michigan friends! How I miss all of you wonderful people. We were there for Thanksgiving but weren't able to stay for church so I didn't get to see many of you. Long ago the MI Mormon Moms started a cooking blog (the link is over there on the sidebar). I was the original author of the blog but obviously I don't live there anymore so I was wondering if anyone wanted to take over and start the cooking blog up again? It was fun to share recipes and such so if you want to do it leave a comment with your email and I'll add you as an author! If not I will just leave it as it is, no worries. Is anyone planning on going to Bronners (the world's largest Christmas store) in the next week or so? We left a coat there last week and would like to get it back without taking another trip!
Even if you aren't going soon, you should plan to go sometime while in the area. They have ornaments of every kind imaginable and a great Santa to visit. It is just over an hour away in Frankenmuth, a German town.

Walking partner/group

I'm really into power walking to work out and I'm wondering if anyone would want to join me. (I know there's a ward walking group but I am def not an early am exerciser!) I'd like to do it about 3 times a week for an hour or so and I always have Henry in the stroller. I know it's winter :P but I think it would be a good way to fight off the blahs. Primary Practice This Saturday

Just a reminder for any one with Primary aged children, this Saturday from 12:00-2:00 is our Primary program rehearsal. We will be meeting in the chapel, so please dress your children appropriately if possible. We will also be having pizza. If your child can not have pizza, please call me at 801-318-3832 so we can offer an alternative. The program is this Sunday at 1:00. We would like to encourage the kids to memorize their parts if possible, almost all of the Sunbeams already have! And, there are still lots of invites available in the foyer if you would like to pick some up this Saturday. If anyone needs a ride, please let me or a member of the primary presidency know. Thanks!

Playgroup at the zoo

Is anyone going to playgroup at the zoo?? Robbie and I are planning on going! It will be cold(40) but no rain and partly sunny, so nothing we can't handle right? :-)

Cloth or Disposable?

So I'm considering going to cloth diapers with this baby. Anyone out there using them? What kind? I used them with Daisy but things have changed a lot in 14 years and there are so many choices. Back then we only had flat diapers (like burp clothes) and had to use pins and vinyl panties. The Velcro diaper covers were just coming out when I was getting about done. Please share your opinions...I need to be educated!

Trunk-Or-Treat Reminder

Wednesday Oct. 26th @ 6:00pm (5:45ish if you are supplying a trunk with treats)

However, the trunk-or-treat will be postponed until Thursday the 27th if the weather does not hold out. I will notify everyone via Michigan Mormon Moms if a change of date is inevitable. Halloween Carnival Playgroup Next Thursday

I Just wanted to remind everyone that next week is our Halloween Carnival Playgroup at the Church. There will be lots of games and activities and some yummy lunch food for the kiddos. Bring the kids in their costumes and be ready for lots of fun! Please let me know in the comments if you plan to attend. I would really like to get a good head count so that I am sure to have enough prizes and food for everyone. Oh yeah, if your child has allergies let me know so I can be sure to have something for them too!

Oh, I forgot to mention, bring their treat bag too. I promise there will not be too much candy, just fun prizes they can put in their bag! We will start at 10:00!

Hello everyone! Just a reminder that this Sunday, October 16th, is the ward potluck. The Primary is in charge of it this month, and we really want it to be a success. Do it for the kids. JK. Please, please, please bring a dish if you can, especially main dishes. However, if you can't bring a dish, we would still love to have everyone stay and eat. We would also like the Primary children to be involved by helping set up (as best they can) and also by cleaning up after. If you could help encourage your kids in this, we would appreciate it. Our road show could really use a few animals. We really need AT LEAST one adult, and we could always use more kids (provided they are at least primary age and know how to behave onstage). Here's what you need to be able to do....

Be able to attend the performance (October 22, 4:00 PM, Charlotte Performing Arts Center)

Be able to attend the dress rehearsal (October 18, 7:00 PM, meet in R.S. room at church)

Be able to attend at least one of these practices-- October 14, 7:00 PM, October 21, 7:00 PM

Sing a few group songs (no solos)

selling ikea shelf SOLD

hey girls we are selling an ikea shelf to make room for a piano. We are selling it for 70. if you go on the website its an expedit shelf. its nice and sturdy. it does have some scrape/rub marks from moving some bins in and out on the lower level. i loved it bc its like a mullet....business on top(first to levels put decorative stuff for the home) and party on the bottom (kids books and toys)...you get my point :) so let me know if there are any takers...we are picking the piano up tomorrow at 1:00 so that would be a perfect time to transport it to your house given that we will have men around to move it :) let me know!

Trunk-Or-Treat at the Allee's House

Trunk -or-Treat at the Allee House

Wednesday October 26th @ 6:00pm

We will begin trunk-or-treating promptly at 6:00pm, however, feel free to join us when you can. Please arrive at 5:45pm if you wish to provide a car and candy/treats. You can park your vehicle along the curb starting at our house moving on down the street. Last year we had so many fun trunks that the cars backed all the way up on both sides of the street passed the Wille's home 5 houses down! With that said, please don't feel as if you have to provide a trunk to come. Also, don't hesitate to come even if your spouse is unable to make it. There will be lots of adults helping to keep the children safe and moving in the right direction.
Our campfire will also be ablaze in the backyard for anyone wishing to stay a while and enjoy some camaraderie. Hot cocoa, cider and a treat will be provided. You may also invite any of your friends to join us. We will postpone the Trunk-or-Treat until Thursday the 27th if it rains Wednesday afternoon and looks as if it's going to continue into the evening. Please watch for any schedule changes on this website. Also, feel free to leave a comment, email me or talk to me if you have any questions. We hope that you have a fun and safe Halloween and that you're able to join us for this fun pre-Halloween evening!

Free Ice Cream Maker

I have a Rival ice cream maker that I want to get rid of. It makes four quarts of ice cream (that's alot!). We've only used it a handfull of times. It's the old fashioned kind that takes alot of ice and salt, so we just don't use it very much. It comes in the box, and includes the instruction/recipe booklet. We have narrowed it down, for various family reasons, to begin at 6:00pm on either

Wednesday October 26th (yes, it is a school night)

Thursday October 27th (there is no school on Friday in East Lansing).

Thursday night is the East Lansing Great Pumpkin Walk and Safe Halloween. Our family will not be taking part in the East Lansing Halloween festivities so it makes no difference to us which night the trunk-or-treat is on. Please leave a comment or talk to me, Jessica, and let us know if you would prefer it to be on the 26th or 27th. I will post the consensus on Wednesday night and set the date! Thank you.

Road Show Update

We just got done with the first meeting for the road show, and by george, we NEED more people! I know there were a few other things going on today, so I'll use that as an excuse. This show is going to be awesome. It's a little over the top and alot of fun. To make it the best we can, we really just need more people. We need more men, more kids, and more women (so everybody, right?). I'll be a little lenient on the "no kids without a parent" rule, if you talk to me about it. My information is all on the church website, please contact me if you'd like more information, a printed schedule, and/or a script. We'll also be working on more costumes soon, and I'll keep everyone posted about that as well. Here's the schedule of all our practices..

Okay...so I am back from a little trip to see family and finally ready to get serious about preschool. So who is still interested? Not that it's been like 3 months or anything:). But seriously I still want to do it and have been buying little things all summer to use for it. I think keeping it simple is best. I was thinking of doing it twice a week for about 2 or so hours and we would switch off houses. If it is at your house you are in charge of teaching. You can come up with your own lessons and activities or I have some ideas I've collected if you need some help getting started. I am hoping to start sometime in September.
So who's with me?
ps...no pressure if you have already worked something else out, I should have been much more oraganized.

Calling all HUSBANDS! We're moving from 924 W. Genesee St in Lansing, to 2166 Regency Dr. East Lansing (Cedarwood) On this coming Saturday. We would really appreciate anyone that could come help. John and I are seasoned movers (this will be our 7th move in our 8 years marriage) so we are VERY prepared. We'll have Water on ice for the guys, and treats. Some of you know my friend Kate. She has come to a few church activities and is now helping a friend who sells Mary Kay by hosting a party. Kate asked me to invite a few friends, so here is your invitation!

It is this Monday night at 8:00 pm. I'm very sorry about it being on FHE night. For those of you with younger children who hold FHE and get them to bed before 8:00 pm this may not be a big deal. Kate and I just couldn't coordinate our schedules to make this party possible any other day within the near future. I suggested to Kate that we do it later in the evening, hence 8:00 pm, and shared with her our religious priority of holding FHE. Good missionary tool! I plan to tell her all about our FHE night at the party. You could share yours too! :)

potter park zoo day

those of you that are actually in town... potter park is doing their community zoo days, the next two days (tuesday and wednesday).

Thanks to the generosity of Meijer, admission to the zoo is just $1 with a voucher. Join us for some exciting activities: chalk art, face painting, speed pitch, an inflatable basketball game, and more. "King of the Grill" will be serving up hot dogs along with chips, pop, and other snacks, and all guests will receive free popsicles to keep cool. Parking will be free as it was in the past, but we encourage other forms of transportation to avoid the congestion.

(Is anyone else getting tired of seeing that title on my posts? I am...)

This week I thought it would be fun to meet somewhere completely new! It's a small trail that is near a pond with a deck over the water. I've seen a duck with her ducklings and lots of fish jumping out of the water so if anyone wants to bring bread or something, that might be fun for the kids. So, I planned on going for a little walk and then playing on a school playground that's really close by.

Just go to Google Maps and type in "Pebblebrook Lane East Lansing, MI" as your destination and it should come up with the right address. You'll have to drive a little further than it shows on the map and there will be parking spaces available. If you have any questions just leave a comment or contact me. Thanks everyone!

Lake Lansing Concerts

Hey everyone, I know this is really late notice, but tonight starts the weekly music concerts at Lake Lansing South!! Free parking, no admission at all. There will also be a bounce castle and bouncy slide for the kids to go on (for free!). Last year they had free ice cream too, but I'm not sure about this year... It starts at 7pm.

Clothing Racks and Hawk Island

Aubrey, Kim and I are having a yard sale next weekend (june 10-11) and we are looking for clothing racks and tables to put our stuff on. If anyone has these items and wouldn't mind us borrowing them we would be sooo grateful!!

On a different note... I took Nora to Hawk Island on memorial day and she was so obsessed with the splash pad, we stayed for like 3 hours! So, I bought a pass and we are planning on going frequently. Anyone who is interested in hangin out at the splash pad this summer, let me know and we'll plan a get together :-)
